A major event sponsored by JBP client Palletways has been awarded a prestigious Guinness World Record for the “Most Hot Air Balloons to Cross the English Channel”.
An amazing 49 hot air balloons made the attempt on April 7, leaving from Dover and arriving in Calais and Palletways, a European logistics company, led the way with their own 61-foot tall dragon balloon.
The Palletways dragon balloon has been a focal point for marketing and PR activity throughout 2010-11 as part of a wider creative communications campaign.
And the world-record attempt certainly captured the imagination of the media with 258 pieces of coverage from The Daily Telegraph to The Independent, ITV and the BBC to Delivery Magazine.
Chris Lawrance, Director of JBP, said: “This was an inspired event that has culminated in a brilliant achievement for everyone involved. It’s no mean feat to organise a world record attempt of this magnitude, but the results both in terms of Palletways brand recognition and media coverage have been more than worth it.”
