National strategic communications and public policy consultancy, JBP Associates, which has an office in Bristol, has been appointed to provide PR and stakeholder engagement support to the inaugural West of England Economic Growth Conference.
Taking place on June 23rd 2017, the one day conference is being organised by the Built Environment Network (BEN), which already runs the Northern Powerhouse annual conference.
The conference will see a day of discussion and opportunity to engage with the West of England’s political and business leaders. The newly elected West of England Mayor will be invited to speak, alongside the leaders of the region’s four councils – Bath & North Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. The Government’s current Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Right Honourable Greg Clark, has also been invited as a guest speaker, along with local MPs. The conference is being supported by the West of England LEP, the new West of England Combined Authority and the four local authorities.
Keith Griffith, director of the BEN, said: “This is the first conference of its kind in the West of England and will play an important role in bringing together the public and private sectors after the election of the new West of England mayor.
“We have been running similar events for the Northern Powerhouse for several years and felt that there was a real need for a conference of this type in the West of England. We wanted to work with a communications agency that understands the regional business and political environment, and JBP was the natural choice.”
Chris Lawrance, managing director of JBP Associates, said: “Over the last 30 plus years, JBP has worked with many clients and campaigns in the West of England, from innovative technology launches and significant infrastructure developments to national fundraising initiatives and renewable energycampaigns. We’re delighted to be providing communications support for such a high profile event and look forward to playing a key role in its success. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the region’s businesses and political leaders to come together and to shout out to the rest of the UK what a fantastic region this is.”
The conference takes place at Brunel’s Engine Shed for one day. For more information about the day, the sponsorship opportunities still available and to buy tickets, go to http://www.westofenglandeconomicgrowthconference.com/.
