Former national BBC news presenter and Number 10 media adviser joins the board of JBP

Clarence Mitchell, a PR veteran with more than 30 years’ experience, is joining the Board of national PR and parliamentary affairs firm, JBP, as Director of Client & Media Services. Now in its 32nd year, JBP has offices in Bristol, Westminster, Warwick, Cardiff and Manchester.
Mitchell’s career spans journalism, PR and government relations gained at the highest levels of the UK media and Government.
He has provided strategic counsel to a wide range of governmental and corporate clients, including Microsoft, Bank of America, Lloyds Banking Group, Heineken and Hewlett Packard.
He was also Director of the Government’s Media Monitoring Unit, based within the Cabinet Office, leading a 30-strong team of Information Officers advising No 10 Downing Street and all of the major Departments of State on how best to respond to the 24/7 news agenda. He was seconded to the Foreign Office in 2007 to assist the McCann family with media handling following the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine in Portugal.
Previously, as a senior journalist, he was an on-air BBC News Correspondent, Royal Correspondent, Political Correspondent and Presenter during a 20-year career with the Corporation.
At JBP he will be responsible for national media relations, reputation management and client services. He will also head up a new media training unit at the company.

Industry magazine PR Week has just published its league table of the top 150 consultancies in the UK and JBP is the best performing communications agency in the South West in terms of increase in revenues generated. JBP has also been recognized in the league table as the 10th best performing public affairs agency in the UK.
