JBP launches first Metrobus route for First
15 June 2018, News
JBP has provided communications and engagement support for the launch of the first route of Metrobus, the £230m rapid transit development in the Bristol City region, one of the largest developments of its kind in the area.
First West of England will operate the m3 route which provides a rapid bus service from Emersons Green in the North to Bristol city centre. It forms part of the wider Metrobus development which will also run from South to the North of the city region.
The launch, which was attended by some 90 figureheads from the business, political, education and cultural community in the region, forms part of a significant strategic positioning programme that JBP is undertaking for the bus company over the next couple of years.

Says Chris Lawrance, Managing Director at JBP and heading up the programme: “Buses often get criticised for not running on time despite the fact that the city region is one of the most congested in the country.
“However, the bus company is investing millions of pounds in some of the cleanest vehicles in the country to greatly enhance air quality, customer friendly technologies to make travelling by bus convenient and affordable and new services to provide greater accessibility to public transport for all corners of the community. This all adds up to a great story and our job is articulating it clearly and cohesively in a stakeholder-friendly way and getting it out there and heard by the regional community.”
James Freeman, Managing Director of First West of England, added: “These are exciting times at the company. We are seeing bus passengers increase in the region 10% year-on-year, bucking the national trend. We’re also doing much more than just running the buses which enable people to go about their daily lives. We’re also proactively shaping bus transport provision through investment and innovation in the city region to meet future economic, social and environmental needs.
“It’s important that we constantly engage with our stakeholders, keeping them informed and abreast of such achievements and developments; and show that we are delivering on what we have said we will do. We have appointed JBP to work with our team as they are well ensconced in the city region’s community and understand our business as they’ve had a relationship with the business in the past.”
