Sainsbury’s, JBP and Kier Retail have been praised for their work in the community promoting considerate construction during the build of Sainsbury’s new supermarket in Portishead.
JBP has supported Sainsbury’s on the new store development since the site was first identified in 2009. During construction we have worked closely with the Portishead community and schools ensuring Sainsbury’s has made a positive entrance to Portishead while minimising disruption to neighbours.
Tom Selway, Account Manager at JBP said: “We are delighted to be awarded the highest accolade from the Considerate Contractors Scheme for Portishead. This recognition is great for the whole team who have worked so closely together over the last six months.
“We wanted to build on the level of support we received for the new store and embed the Sainsbury’s team in the Portishead community. We’ve got involved taking part in popular local events such as the Portishead Raft Race and supporting the Portishead in Bloom town team.”
“We were particularly keen to work with schools and try and inspire the next generation of builders, architects and engineers. Professionals from across the team spoke to 14 and 15 year olds at a careers day at Gordano School. We also spent a day with two primary schools giving them hands on experience of construction and captured the day on film. We are delighted with the finished result which really showcases what we stand for!”
The Considerate Constructor Scheme is a national initiative, set up by the construction industry to improve its image and to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. It has been going since 1997.
