Promoting CSR Initiatives Palletways UK

Schools road safety project

In line with Palletways UK social values, we created a strategy for them to become a champion for child road safety in schools in partnership with Brake, the road safety charity. We planned a series of educational workshops during Road Safety Week 2019 focused on improving road safety awareness amongst primary school children. The programme included a tour of a Palletways 12-tonne truck to highlight the importance of taking care around larger vehicles on the roads and a school assembly.

Success in the community and media

Staff from Palletways Birmingham delivered four educational sessions to more than 300 children in November. The initiative received praise from teachers and engagement from staff, boosting Palletways’ social profile in the West Midlands. We also caught the imagination of the logistics and local media, including Logistics Business, Express and Star (Wolverhampton) and Supply Chain News Ireland. The next step is to roll-out the initiative via Palletways UK depots across the country to engage with even more local communities and schools in better road safety.

"All children were engaged throughout"

“The workshop was confidently led, and all children were engaged throughout. When discussing road safety, the children could articulate how to stay safe and understood the impact of cycling to school on the environment. Parental feedback was positive, they were thrilled with the hi-visibility accessories which will be very useful in the future.”
